Access matrix

Access rules belong in the system, not in someone's memory

The answer to "does this card get into the FOP?" should live in a matrix, not in the head of the person on the gate. In AccredZone rights are defined per unit, and a person inherits the rights of the unit they belong to.

Unit matrix

Tick it once, it lands everywhere

  • Category, subcategory, unitThe organisation structure is built on three levels, and the colours used on the card come from those levels.
  • Zone rightsWhich unit enters which zone is ticked on the matrix, and the matrix is the source for both the printed strip and the check at the gate.
  • Matrix parameter groupsRights printed in the same spot are defined as a group; whichever of them a person holds are printed side by side, and the rest are left blank, ghosted or hidden.
  • Per-person matrixWhere someone's rights differ from their unit, a personal parameter set is defined and used at print time instead of the unit matrix, affecting nobody else.

Venues and gates

One event, several venues

Modern tournament formats do not fit in a single hall. You define venues, gates and the zone requirement each gate looks for; the gate QR binds the access control app straight to that gate.

  • Venue and gate definitionsEach gate is bound to a zone; venues and gates can be deactivated individually, and an inactive gate grants no entry.
  • Event date rangeIf the event has a start and end date, entries outside that range are refused — and "today" is calculated in the event's own time zone.
  • Time window on upgrade cardsAn upgrade card printed for temporary access carries a start and end time; outside that window it does not pass.
  • Vehicle rightsVehicle accreditations follow the same logic with their own parameters.
